Question 1

How do I read military time?

Accepted Answer

Hours 00 to 11 are the same as AM. Add 12 to a PM hour to get military time, so 1:00 PM is 13:00 and 9:00 PM is 21:00. Midnight is 00:00.

Question 2

Is 00:00 or 24:00 midnight?

Accepted Answer

In the 24-hour clock, 00:00 marks the start of the day. 24:00 is sometimes used for the end of the day but is less common.

Question 3

Do I need to write a leading zero?

Accepted Answer

Conventionally yes — 09:05 rather than 9:05 — so every time has the same four digits. This converter formats it that way for you.

Question 4

Does it work offline?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the whole tool runs locally in your browser with no data sent anywhere.
