A free, private typing speed test
This typing speed test measures how fast and how accurately you type. It shows your words per minute (WPM), accuracy percentage and characters per minute (CPM) in real time while you type. Because the test runs entirely in your browser, nothing you type is ever uploaded or stored.
To use it, simply read the sentence shown at the top and type it into the box below. The timer starts as soon as you begin typing. Correctly typed characters are highlighted in green and mistakes in red, so you can see exactly where you slip up.
How the score works
WPM is calculated as the total number of characters you typed divided by five, divided by the number of minutes elapsed. Accuracy is the share of characters that matched the target text. Practicing for a few minutes a day is one of the fastest ways to improve both speed and accuracy.
